Reverie

It was silence
That moved me
As night begged
For me to wake
From a reverie
Of you and I,
Entwined,
Before the dawn
Of consciousness.

Embracing sleep,
I danced alone
At water's edge.
The echo of,
"Do it, love,"
Remained,
Lingered a while longer.
"You cannot wait
For never."
I cannot stay
Forever.

All my dreams,
They laid to rest
When you became
A thrill
I never really knew.
If only I knew that then.

So still,
So silent I lie
Alone.
